Oliver Troon

Oliver is criminal defence barrister with more than a decade of experience. He represents clients facing all manner of serious criminal charges. He is a respected and trusted advocate, with significant experience representing clients in jury trials, judge-alone trials, pre-trial hearings, sentencing hearings, for bail applications, and can advise those involved in criminal cases of all kinds.

Oliver regularly acts for clients who face charges in the both the District Court and High Court. He has argued appeals to the Court of Appeal and has appeared in the Supreme Court.

Oliver is a member of Atlas Chambers in Auckland, where he is based. However he is available in all parts of the country and regularly acts for right throughout New Zealand. He is a Court appointed Youth Advocate in the Queenstown and Wanaka and appears for young people in the Youth Court. He was recognised by the Doyle's Guide as a Recommended Auckland Criminal Defence Lawyer in 2026.

Oliver can be instructed privately but also accepts assignments for clients on Legal Aid (PAL 1 - PAL 4 cases).
